Introducing Jacob Fenton, OpenAQ’s new Software Developer
OpenAQ is excited to welcome Jacob Fenton to our team.
Jacob’s role is to build and maintain scalable, data-intensive visuals and user tooling, focusing over the next couple of years on a project to support the global Breathe Cities initiative.
Before joining OpenAQ, Jacob developed public-interest data platforms for investigative journalists. His work emphasized large-scale ETL pipelines, search infrastructure and administrative tools supporting billions of public records. He brings deep experience in full-stack development, geospatial systems, and cloud infrastructure, with a longstanding commitment to open source and civic technology.
Jacob has also worked as a news reporter, editor and data editor. He holds a BA in Physics from Reed College.
