OpenAQ Global Community Series Recap: “Imagining the Possibilities of a Globally-Aggregated Low-Cost Air Quality Sensor Platform”
On December 20th, OpenAQ hosted a seminar at Development Seed in Washington, D.C. — we had 15 people join us in-person and 40 people join us virtually from around the world, including India, Ghana, Mongolia, Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina, Nepal, Canada, and the United Kingdom!
Our panelists included Collins Gameli Hodoli from Cranfield University who shared his low-cost air quality sensor initiative in Ghana; Dr. Sarath Guttikunda from Urban Emissions who explained how low-cost air quality sensor networks can help enhance air quality forecasting; and Ananya Roy from Environmental Defense Fund who discussed the possibilities in low-cost sensors to advance public health research.
