We’re excited to welcome Wesley Garcia to the OpenAQ Team! Wes is OpenAQ’s new Community Engagement Intern, and will be supporting various projects that aim to amplify impact to fight air pollution more effectively across the globe. Are you on OpenAQ Slack? Give him a shout out at @wesleygarcia!

I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona and had an adventurous life working aboard cruise ships traveling the seven seas. After discovering my interest in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and cartography, I decided to enlist in the United States Air Force to gain more hands-on experience in this field. To further my horizons, I am completing my undergraduate degree at University of Colorado Denver with a BA in Geography and a certificate in GIS. I currently living in Thornton, Colorado with my wife, Kelly, and my two cats, Thai and Serrano. On my free time we life to go hiking throughout the Rocky Mountains and cross-country skiing. I recently got accepted into a graduate program at the Queensland University of Technology for a Master of Information Technology. Air quality to me is very important, not only because it has a direct relation to our health, but also in protecting our environment.
